    Ruda Śląska
    The „Ficinus” workers’ settlement in Wirek, a district of Ruda Śląska, is probably not so knowm and impressive as Giszowiec or Nikiszowiec in Katowice, but it has its own style and extraordinary features. The houses lining Pawła St were built in 1860s not of brick, but of sandstone extraxted from the Slesian quarries. The Miners working in the nearby  mine Gottessegen, which means God’s Blessing, lived in these houses.

    Bobrowniki
    The church in Bobrowniki is the oldest monument of wooden architecture in the district of Będzin. The church was built at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Alongside with a stone enclosure and a cemetery the church is on the List of heritage registers. After the construction of a new church in Bobrowniki, the church fell into disuse, and is currently under renovation. It is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.

    Mikołów
    Saint Adalbert is the patron saint of Mikołów. The parish of this martyr has existed in the town since the Middle Ages. The present parish church has the rank of a minor basilica, and was built in the mid-nineteenth century. It replaced a small shrine, preserved until today. The most magnificent church in Mikołów church was erected on a rectangular plan, in the neo-Romanesque style. Above the main entrance we can see find images of the blessed priests - Emil Szramek and Stanislaw Kubista.

    Mikołów is an industrial Silesian town with a spectacular market square and numerous monuments. The so-called “Biały Domek” (White House), an impressive villa at Karola Miarki Street is among the most interesting monuments. It was built by Heinrich Koetz, a local entrepreneur, the owner of the machinery factory, n the second half of the nineteenth century. The building houses the magistrates and is the seat of the Municipal Museum with interesting collections.

    Zabrze
    The Church of Saint Hedwig at Wolności Street in Zabrze is one of the monuments on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province. The church was erected at the initiative of Fr. Józef Bennek from 1928 to 1929. It was designed by Karol Kuttentodt. The original nice structure of the church was built on a dodecagonal plan with four surrounding towers. The characteristic shape of the Zabrze church distinguishes it from other churches in the region.

    Tychy
    "The tradition of brewing in Tychy goes back in 1629, which is marked in the beer label - under the crown prince. A modern brewery was built in this town by Duke Johann Heinrich Hochberg von Pless XI in the second half of the nineteenth century. It was later developed into one of the largest breweries in the Polish lands. The Tychy Brewery presents its history and today’s times .This is a combination of a modern museum with a tour of the modern facility and tasting a recognized brand of beer."

    The City Museum in Tychy was established in 2005. As befits the industrial city, it is housed in the historic building of an old drying plant of grain stillage (spent barley grains) built in 1909 and located in the premises of Prince's Brewery of Tychy. The museum has organized several interesting exhibitions, devoted mainly to Tychy and its environs. This institution is a meeting place for people of culture and education and conducts publishing activities.

    Mikołów
    In the past, Paniowy was a village, mentioned already in 1282. It is now part of the town of Mikołów. Amid the local landscapes combining arable land and industrial centers dotted with shafts and chimneys, it is worth looking inside the eighteenth-century wooden church of Saints Peter and Paul. This sanctuary, with a fine silhouette of three Baroque domes, is on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.

    "The Museum of Bread, School and Curiosities in Radzionków is an institution established thanks to the passion of one man, Piotr Mankiewicz. After years of collecting the exhibits, in 2000, he decided to show them to the public. The museum exhibition revolves around the bread - from the process of its formation to its presence in the wider culture. Recently, the owner of the museum expanded its collections for school memorabilia and other miscellaneous."

    Zabrze
    ""Queen Louise"" in Zabrze is the oldest state-run coal mine in Upper Silesia. Its origins date back to 1791. In 1993, the Mining Heritage Park "Queen Louise” was opened in the mine. The biggest attraction is an underground tourist route with a length of over 1.5 km. A visit to the museum provides a unique opportunity to see up close the work of a miner, mining machines and devices, and even taste some of the Silesian dishes.

The area around the General Józef Ziętek Roundabout in Katowice is one of the most recognizable places in the capital of Upper Silesia. Even today visitors are impressed by the bold shape of the Sport and Show Arena known as Spodek ("Saucer in Polish). On the opposite side of the roundabout there is the Monument of the Silesian Insurgents and close to it the bronze statue of General Ziętek. An unusual memento of the communist times is the so-called Super Unit. A more recent landmark is "Rondo Sztuki", a an art and cultural centre.

Tourist can admire a fantastic view from the green roof of the MCK, and Hoist tower of the former pit shaft, on which a panoramic lift is mounted (the Silesian Museum)

The tradition of such constructions in the capital of Upper Silesia dates back to the interwar period, when the first “skyscraper” in the country was erected in Katowice. Currently, the record high building is the skyscraper "Altus", which is 125 meters tall and has a total area of about 69 000 square meters.

In 1984, the reactivated Silesian Museum in Katowice was moved into the impressive building of the former Grand Hotel at today’s 3 Korfanty Street. The construction of the building was financed by Max Wiener, an entrepreneur from Katowice in 1899. It was designed by Ignatz Gruenfeld or Gerd Zimmermann. The building is made of brick, giving it an elegant, neo-Renaissance form with decorative gables and projections.
