    Katowice
    The wooden church, still standing at the highest point Kosciuszko Park in Katowice Brynów, is a building erected in the early sixteenth century and moved to this place from Syrynia, a district of Rybnik in 1938. It is the oldest monument in Katowice. Next to the church, there is a seventeenth-century bell tower, which was moved here along with the shrine. The whole complex is surrounded by a stylish wooden fence with three gates. The church moved here at the initiative of the then mayor Adam Kocur - a future priest The property is located on the Silesian Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.

    Sosnowiec
    The orthodox church in Sosnowiec dedicated to Saints Vera, Nadia, Luba and his mother, Sophie, is the seat of one of the two Orthodox parishes covering the area of today's Silesia. The church was built close to the train station of the Vienna- Warsaw railway. The church is a cruciform building, stylistically reminiscent of the Byzantine patterns. In the interior, you will see, among others, an iconostasis, which is more than 100 years old.

    Mikołów
    Saint Adalbert is the patron saint of Mikołów. The parish of this martyr has existed in the town since the Middle Ages. The present parish church has the rank of a minor basilica, and was built in the mid-nineteenth century. It replaced a small shrine, preserved until today. The most magnificent church in Mikołów church was erected on a rectangular plan, in the neo-Romanesque style. Above the main entrance we can see find images of the blessed priests - Emil Szramek and Stanislaw Kubista.

    Katowice
    The church of Saint Casimir in Katowice was built between 1930 and 1933, as a garrison church serving the soldiers of the 23 Infantry Division of the Polish Army stationed in the city. The church was the first religious building in the country built in the style of simplified modernism, or functionalism. Its designers were Leon d'Arma Dietz and Jan Zarzycki. The interior is decorated in the Art Deco style.

    One of the tourist sights located in the Silesian Park (formerly the Regional Park of Culture and Recreation) is an open-air museum with an area of 22 hectares, in which there are more than 70 historic buildings. The exhibits collected in the museum come from the five sub-regions of Upper Silesia (the Beskids, the Piedmont, Pszczyna-Rybnik, the Industrial sub-region and Lubliniec) and from Zagłębie (Coal Basin). The Museum "Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzów" is on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.

    Chorzów
    The Church of Saint Lawrence in Chorzów is one of the monuments located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province. The building was erected at the end of the sixteenth century in Knurów. In the inter-war period, the wooden church built of larch logs was moved to a new location, onto Góra Wyzwolenia (Mount Liberation), once called Mount Reden, in Chorzów. Currently, the church is the seat of the parish.

    In Panewniki, a south-western district of Katowice, on can find a historic Franciscan monastery, which is visited especially by numerous people at Christmas time, because of the Europe's largest altar Christmas crib. The Basilica of Saint Louis the King and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the monastery buildings were built in the neo-Romanesque style in the early twentieth century. Noteworthy are also the Lourdes Grotto, the Panewniki Calvary and a church graveyard.

    Bobrowniki
    The church in Bobrowniki is the oldest monument of wooden architecture in the district of Będzin. The church was built at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Alongside with a stone enclosure and a cemetery the church is on the List of heritage registers. After the construction of a new church in Bobrowniki, the church fell into disuse, and is currently under renovation. It is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.

    Piekary Śląskie
    The Piekarska Calvary is one of the most famous pilgrimage destinations in Poland. It was built in the late nineteenth century on the hill of Cerekwica, which is adjacent to the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity and Social Justice in Piekary Śląskie. It consists of Stations of the Way of the Cross, a Gothic Calvary Church of the Resurrection, and a number of other chapels and stations associated with the subject of Passion.

    Zabrze
    The Church of Saint Hedwig at Wolności Street in Zabrze is one of the monuments on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province. The church was erected at the initiative of Fr. Józef Bennek from 1928 to 1929. It was designed by Karol Kuttentodt. The original nice structure of the church was built on a dodecagonal plan with four surrounding towers. The characteristic shape of the Zabrze church distinguishes it from other churches in the region.

The area around the General Józef Ziętek Roundabout in Katowice is one of the most recognizable places in the capital of Upper Silesia. Even today visitors are impressed by the bold shape of the Sport and Show Arena known as Spodek ("Saucer in Polish). On the opposite side of the roundabout there is the Monument of the Silesian Insurgents and close to it the bronze statue of General Ziętek. An unusual memento of the communist times is the so-called Super Unit. A more recent landmark is "Rondo Sztuki", a an art and cultural centre.

In 1984, the reactivated Silesian Museum in Katowice was moved into the impressive building of the former Grand Hotel at today’s 3 Korfanty Street. The construction of the building was financed by Max Wiener, an entrepreneur from Katowice in 1899. It was designed by Ignatz Gruenfeld or Gerd Zimmermann. The building is made of brick, giving it an elegant, neo-Renaissance form with decorative gables and projections.
